Blood Donation Camp

The measure of life is not its duration, but its donation.”

Peter Marshal

A man’s true wealth is the good he does in this world”. The world today is built with technology, stone and bricks, but losing the fundamental living of being human.

Every 2 seconds someone in India requires blood and yet blood is perennially in short supply and as we all know there is no substitute of blood as it cannot be manufactured, the need for

blood donation is increasing day by day. Each year millions of people need blood transfusions. Major diseases like dengue, sickle cell anaemia, certain types of cancers, surgeries, accidents, natural disasters etc have been the main cause for blood transfusions around the world. Many lives are lost due to unavailability of blood. Doctors need blood for transfusing it in the body of person after operation and similar situations when a lot of blood flows out of the person’s body.

Donating blood is a noble cause and a selfless act which helps save lives. Giving your blood to someone in need is a gift, and just as important as donating organs since it’s like offering someone a chance at life. People should understand that their little contribution can prove to be of great help to others. A single unit of blood donated can save 3 human lives.

Along with this blood donation has some other benefits too such as

  • Stimulates Blood Cell Production.

  • Blood Donation helps to reduce risk of heart attack and cancer.

  • Donation of blood, burns calories & helps in weight loss.

  • It helps to maintain healthy liver.

  • Prevents Hemochromatosis and helps to maintain iron level.

  • It helps you to complete your social responsibilities.

How fascinating it is to know there are so many benefits of blood donation along with saving someone's life!

Hence, keeping in mind the chronic need for blood in the society, Abhikrati Foundation in collaboration with Archana Foundation and Blood Connect Foundation organised a blood donation camp to encourage young community members in the city to participate in this noble and worthy cause.

The camp was organized on August 1st 2021 at Alwar blood bank near Agrasen Circle in Alwar. A team of Doctors, paramedics and volunteers were present to ensure safe and hygienic camp. While all the professionals followed stringent screening procedures and good laboratory practices for testing, processing and collecting blood, donors’ details were documented carefully by the volunteers. The initiative witnessed wide participation from more than 70 people, residing in various parts of the city.

As recognition of this humanly act, every donor was credited with a certificate and few refreshments.

Countless lives will be saved every day due to generous donors who give of their own blood for the benefit of others.

-We thank Archana Foundation and Blood Connect Foundation and all our donors for their support for this initiative.
